I realised I've not posted pics from our trip to Islay at the end of May. It was quite good fun, so I thought I'd catch up on my travels and what's been happening.

We got ridiculously good weather for our trip to Islay. We spent the first weekend at Port Ban, where there isn't even a phone signal. *hyperventilates* But it is a glorious place, with a wonderful view of the Paps of Jura.

Our campsite on Islay was also the local sports ground... (3G signal but we had no electric for a few days so the laptop stayed closed for the whole week!!) On Tuesday we were treated to the match *g* It began to rain late in the game, but what a spectacle it was with a double rainbow!! The whole thing was thrilling *g* Binoculars at the ready to ogle Number 14... The old guys won 3-1 :p

This little place was lovely. It's Portnahaven. You can see the churning ocean beyond the shelter of the islands off the coast.

You can see what glorious weather it was. We had a rather surreal experience in the Post Office where we bought ice creams (and they sold *everything* including blank cassette tapes!!!) and the young guy behind the counter was wearing shades and when we said what we wanted he said "Cool beans!" in a fake American accent... 0_o  I am convinced he has a different persona for each day of the week to confuse tourists... The day after he would have had a feather boa on and called us darlings...

Lovely beach near Kilchoman...

Most of the rest of the week was taken up with visiting distilleries. With the kids, we hadn't really intended to, but we'd exhausted all the easy tourist destinations, and Islay has seven distilleries, so... hubby drank much whisky :)

You get the ferry back from Islay from the other end of the island, and once again a beautiful vista over Jura from the quayside. Don't fall in, Dave!!

We saw dolphins/porpoises following the ferry, I did get a picture but it's only a couple of black specks in the sea *g* They were lovely though, two of them jumping in the wake of the ship.

So that was Islay! Much fun.

And lastly, I went down to Bath the other week! We saw Ben Mansfield in the Noel Coward play Relative Values. It was brilliant. Very funny! I enjoyed it immensely. Rory Bremner, Patricia Hodge, Caroline Quentin and Steven Pacey were all wonderful too :D Especially Steven. *is smitten* He does lots of audiobooks... *beams*

We managed to get in a little sightseeing. Dave insisted on pretending to be a lion in Bath Abbey.

And that is more than enough gallivanting for the moment!! It was nice to be at home this weekend, doing nothing :D
