The Outer Hebrides
Aug. 4th, 2011 03:50 pmWell, I'm back! We had an amazing family holiday to the Outer Hebrides, a beautiful and wild group of islands off the coast of Scotland. The purpose of the trip was for the boys to cycle the length of the islands, which they did. I provided services as chief soigneur *g* We had ferry journeys, no internet, glorious weather for the most part. The Hebrides are amazing. Flat peaty moorlands, wild jagged hills, sandy beaches and blue water to rival the Caribbean. It was incredible.
We saw eagles and maybe an otter *g* There was also an exhibition of the Lewis Chessmen in Stornoway which was an added bonus.
Back on the mainland we climbed Stac Pollaidh near Ullapool, and there was more cycling in the Trossachs before we finally made it home yesterday. Phew. The camper was brilliant, excellent little campsites, but I'm so glad to be home with my own bed and a shower on tap!
Dave had a good time too, and now here are some photos for anyone interested!
( Ridiculous number of holiday photos under here.... )
