Went to Fife for the weekend to see the air show at Leuchars. Well, the weather was pretty dreadful, but thankfully they parked us virtually at the gate, so we sat in the camper and had bacon and eggs until it was time to go in *g*

Low cloudbase, drizzle. Not looking good for the air display :(   Still, plenty of stuff to see, and more men in fatigues than you could shake an umbrella at. Nice :) Including pilots from the Czech Republic and the Netherlands :-) All good fun. And a few chaps in full dress uniform too *g* No flying until 11.30am, when a Typhoon took off and gave us a nice start at least.
But the Red Arrows had arrived, so they were pretty to look at.

The Vulcan was there! The last one that can fly, and only because they've just spent a small fortune getting it going again. It was beautiful. Here it is near the crowd, with an apache chuntering about in the background. Thank God for the helicopters, they were one of the few things that gave us a show :-)

Dave and Connor enjoyed seeing the Vulcan.

The Red Arrows did at least fly, but with the very poor conditions their display was much curtailed. Still, my pathetic little camera snapped them not too badly, I think.

You can see the break in the clouds there, and there was much excitement as we waited to hear if the Vulcan would take off, or just taxi about a bit :( It looked impressive on the runway anyway!

In the end they decided the weather was too poor, and in fact it had closed in again very quickly. So sad!! But if you want to see a short video of the Vulcan eventually appearing doing a fast taxi with front wheel up and actually off the ground for a moment, plus cool Vulcan screaming sounds, then click here.

A Spitfire managed to fly too. Hooray! Too small for my ariel pics or vid to be any good ;)

And my favourite shot of the day, as the Red Arrows were taxiing to take off and fly away home, one of the crew of a huge American National Guard transport plane was out on the wing, taking a photo. His mate wandered out to give him a ribbing. It was a nice scene. Then my camera battery died, LOL!

Maybe we'll go again next year, try and get good weather. Sickeningly, today was absolutely gorgeous. Utterly blue sky, the lot. Ah well...
