Except for the murder in Freetown Christiana a few days after we visited, but anyway :) We had a great holiday in Denmark at the end of August, and it's about time I posted some photos!

This was the house we rented. It had a pool/whirlpool bath and sauna, and was probably a bit excessive, but we enjoyed it very much :) Lovely location, not far from a nice little village by the sandy beach. The kids had a bedroom each, and that's our bedroom on the right with big doors out into the garden. All very nice.

This was the view on the beach. We had, as ever, pretty great weather for most of the holiday!

Further along the coast, there were more pebbly beaches. Dave is not easy to balance.

A little further along the coast you reached Helsingør, from where you can see Sweden across the channel. This is the castle on the coast, the castle of Hamlet fame, Kronborg at Elsinore :) It's quite pretty!

There is also the most amazing library at the "Kulturehavn" on the waterfront there. The outside of the building is all glass etc, but inside is just the best library ever. Dave liked the elephant chairs in the kid section.

So many floors and different spaces, we found one man alseep in a corner on a massive round sofa, lol. This lovely round shelving area caught my eye, very Scandi.

From that town we got a ferry across to Sweden one day, and drove south to Malmö, then across the famous Bridge, which actually was half-tunnel to get across the sound :) Still very cool! Look at these fab chairs on the ferry which reminded me of fried eggs *g*

We went to the Louisiana Musuem of Modern Art, which is just as much about its location, buildings, grounds, as it is the modern art inside (otherwise we might not have bothered!!). It really was beautiful.

Bags of Henry Moore's just lying around. Dave is somewhere in this photo *g*

The art inside was mostly pretty crazy as usual, those some very impressive pieces. And this, taking up a room bigger than your school hall. And yes, that's a projection of a dandelion on the wall. No, I have no idea either.

We did go to Copenhagen, where the elephant tower is just very cool. There are four elephants holding it up, it is part of the Carlsberg brewery buildings.

Several tourists are going to have Dave in the picture of their elephant.

We enjoyed a quick trip to the Tivoli Gardens, like a tiny Alton Towers in the middle of the city. We went up a tower that gave us a great view of the city, then wandered a little in Freetown Christiana, managing to leave before we got high on the fumes of all the cannabis on sale! Eventually we reached the Little Mermaid, she's very famous and there were a lot of tourists there. One even fell in trying to get across to her for a photo. I settled for a perspective shot :p

We went to Frederiksborg, another impressive castle. Beautiful setting, some incredible rooms inside, often recreated as of course it burned down in the 1800s sometime.

Inside, there was an exhibition space, and some work by Swiss photographer Marco Grob. Seriously good stuff. Surprise Star Wars room with some gorgeous pics. Sneaky photo showing Gwendoline Christie in well deserved company. Or is it the other way round? *g*

There was some old graffiti behind glass in one tower.

We also went to their national museum of pharmacy, which was very interesting to me, and the rest of the family seemed to like it too! It was in the basement of a posh conference centre, only open one afternoon a week, but well worth the effort of trying to find it.

All in all we had a very nice, relaxing holiday. Plenty of danish pastries and coffee. And lots of pretty thatched houses to see. Nice to be back in Denmark, we used to go Easter holidays there when the ferry went from Newcastle. Shame that's no more!

Thanks for looking!
